Rules & Regulations

  1. Classes will start at 6.30 PM and end at 8:30 PM on scheduled Fridays. The school building opens at 6:15 PM. Use the main/front entrance to enter the building.


  2. Students can be dropped off and picked up from their assigned classroom only. Student(s) SHOULD NOT be dropped off or picked up at the parking lot or outside the school.


  3. Students can NOT be in classrooms without adult supervision. If the teacher is not in the classroom, the parent arriving first should stay with the child (s) until the teacher comes in. 


  4. Students should be picked up (only) from the classroom on time, within 5 minutes after the scheduled class hours. It is very important that kids are picked up on time, as the building will be locked at 8:35 PM. Additionally, all staff are volunteers and can NOT stay past time.


  5. Parents should discuss with their child's teachers at the individual teacher's convenience (in person/email/WhatsApp) should they have any questions/concerns or need more info.


  6. NO replacement for the lost books supplied to the kids or their own personal items. 


  7. NO phones or gadgets allowed during the class and should be POWERED OFF. 


  8. Students are not allowed to eat snacks inside the classroom; they can have them outside the classroom during the break. Only small water bottles are allowed in the classroom, strictly no juices inside the classroom.


  9. Encourage the children to use restrooms before the classes start. 


  10. Instruct the kids strictly NOT to explore and disturb anything in the classroom other than their belongings. The South Brunswick school has zero tolerance for any destructive behaviors and may revoke the permission to use their facility for Tamil school in case of any violations.


  11. Students should always have text and exercise books, two pencils, and an eraser with them in class. 


  12. Parents must CHECK email & WhatsApp before heading out to school, latest by 5:30 PM.


  13. Any delayed opening / early dismissal / class cancellation will be communicated through these modes of communication. School closures because of inclement weather will follow the South Brunswick School District's practice.


  14. Parents are requested to spend time (at least 15 minutes to 30 minutes every day) reviewing lessons and practicing conversational Tamil. They should also insist on speaking to kids in Tamil at home. 


  15. Parents should review and sign the homework at the end of the homework page each week.


  16. Parents should take turns coming to class every week to correct homework. The class parents are responsible for preparing a schedule and ensuring that a parent comes to class for homework correction. If a scheduled parent cannot make it at the last minute, they must find an alternative before starting class.


  17. Teachers will use WhatsApp groups effectively for all communications. Please use the group diligently, avoid sending spam/jokes/irreverent forwarded messages in the group.


  18. If a kid is absent, should be notified in the group before the start of the class. The teacher should pre-approve longer than two continuous absences. Do not notify the admin team for absences. The parent is responsible for covering the missing lessons and homework before the start of the class. Teachers cannot cover the missed lessons in class.


  19. If a kid is running late, should be notified in the group before 6:30 PM. Do not text & drive!!


  20. Avoid sending WhatsApp messages to the class group during class hours unless they are urgent; this might distract teachers during class.


  21. Parent notes are a must for a student who is leaving early or has been picked up by someone through email or WhatsApp. 


  22. All teachers and admin members are volunteers only. Please respect them by promptly responding to their questions/queries. Attend meetings scheduled by teachers/Admin without fail; attendance is mandatory. 


  23. We treat children's safety as a high priority. Parents are expected to volunteer to safeguard front doors and monitor kids in the hallway by turn to protect kids. The schedule will be published soon. 


  24. Kids are expected to behave the same way in regular school. Playing or running around the hallway is strictly prohibited. 


  25. Kids are encouraged to speak only Tamil inside the school.


  26. Parents are NOT allowed to stay in the school unless they are volunteering.


  27. Pictures and videos taken from the school events will be shared on the school website and in news articles. 


  28. Be cautious while driving in the parking lot, as students will be around.\
